A Meaningful First: Tomemos un Cafecito Senior Workshop

Tomemos un Cafecito—an expansion of the Let’s Talk Story Club nonprofit to serve Latino seniors—recently reached an exciting milestone with its very first Senior Memory Book Workshop on February 28 at the School of Arts and Culture at Mexican Heritage Plaza in San Jose, CA.

Our inaugural event brought together seniors, families, and volunteers to share stories, reflect on life experiences, and begin preserving them in writing.

Over cafecito and pan dulce, participants used the Tomemos un Cafecito memory book to capture meaningful moments–sparking connection, laughter, and conversation across generations.

This first workshop marks the beginning of something much bigger. It reflects a growing commitment to reducing isolation, honoring lived experiences, and creating spaces where Latino seniors feel seen, heard, and connected. Most importantly, it sets the foundation for expanding this work—bringing more families together to preserve the stories that matter most.

Special thank you to Ian Gomez, our hard-working and passionate partner!
